PAUL STICCA

bio!

Paul Sticca is an Americana (country, rock & blues) singer / songwriter from Western Massachusetts. Sticca ventured into music at the early age of four to become a classically trained pianist. Sticca studied at the Springfield Music Conservatory and later continued private lessons with one of the most recognized piano teachers in the area, Mrs. Ida King. Sticca put many miles on an early 1900's, road-worn, pea-green upright piano that was relocated from the salvage yard to the basement of his childhood home following its own adventure in vaudeville shows up and down the east coast in the 1950's.

While continuing to develop his music catalogue, Sticca expanded his interest to jazz-rock drums and percussion, electric pianos and other keyboards in various Springfield Public School bands (most notably under teacher Mr. Mark Todd) and also began performing with local bands navigating various musical styles and genres.

In his early twenties, Sticca began writing original music generally in the Americana genre and became fluent on a variety of instruments including acoustic and electric guitars, baritone, lap-steel and resonator guitars, Hammond and other organs, harmonica, mandolin, melodica, bass guitar and his grandfather's classic accordions.  Sticca writes and performs with the band Acousticca and The Chicken Yard, as well as solo and with special guests at various music venues, festivals, concert series events throughout New England.

Most recently, the first track "Start Over Again" from his latest album release "Abandoned Radio" was aired on SiriusXM's channel The Loft on Meg Griffin's Radio show "Disorder".

In early 2021, the first track "Start Over Again" from his latest release "Abandoned Radio" was aired on SiriusXM's channel The Loft on Meg Griffin's Radio show "Disorder".

Most recently, Recording Magazine published a review of Paul's track "Motel 6" from his album Acousticca Abandonded Radio.  The track earned a 5-star review and was recognized as the "Spotlight" track of the month (Sept '21 issue).

As Recording Magazine's expert Marty Peters (engineer, producer) wrote: "While our primary mission at Readers Tracks leans more to the technical side of things, we would be remiss in not stating the obvious – Paul has written a killer song here!  As for the tones and timbres, we were well impressed throughout. Paul mentions several tremolo foot pedals in his gear list, and he has used them to great advantage on the track. The wide panned, tremolo’d electric guitars and Rhodes piano tones create a terse, swirling vibe that creating a cool dynamic atmosphere against the rock-solid drums."... "As you can tell, we enjoyed “Motel 6” and why not? Fine writing, performances, tones, recording and mixing earn this an easy place in Spotlight. To you Singer/Songwriters out there, we urge you to give Paul’s submission more than a few spins. There’s lots to learn from!"

So truly appreciated Marty!
